Single Review: Arctic Monkeys - Electricity
With all the raging fire of a combustion engine, Arctic Monkeys have done it again with this year’s Record Store Day offering, Electricity.
Like Suck It and See, Alex Turner and Co. have once again opted for the primal needs of every alternative rock fan – a simple head-bangable riff, lyrics like hot-wired neon dreams (the kind they’ve been experiencing in America over the past year) and the darker tones of their second album, Favourite Worst Nightmare.
It’s an Arctic Monkeys classic, without a flicker of a doubt. The sliding chorus reignites the same filament of danger as their last single, R U Mine? Quite suitable that this, therefore, is its B-side, recorded on purple vinyl especially for Record Store Day.
Blissfully awesome, excellently delivered, regally presented: electrifying.
Buy it.
